Article about the Nikon P1000 super zoom camera tests

Episode 1 of the Super Zoom Variety Series

Last Updated: 2023-07-30

If your guilty pleasure is watching super zoom videos then you're going to love the video I just made! The video below is a collection of 14 different zooms using the Nikon COOLPIX P1000 super zoom camera. Whether you like to watch your zooming as a video clip or a set of pictures, this video has you covered.

The Nikon COOLPICS P1000 The Nikon COOLPIX P1000 Super zoom camera.

This virtual mystery box of zooming includes scenes from the land to the sea to the sky! What are all of the zooming scenes in the mystery box video? I don't know - it's a mystery! :) But I will tell you that these are all new zooms that I've not previously shared.

If you're thinking about buying a Nikon P1000 then there are a few things to keep in mind while watching the video:

  1. Some of the video clips had really boring sound or the sound was annoying (like wind), so I replaced the sound on some of the clips.
  2. A lot of the video clips were shot hand held and I have really shaky hands, so I stabilized some of the video clips using my video editing software in postproduction.
  3. These are the last super zooms that I shot in Full HD (1080p) so the resolution is lower than the 4K videos that I take with my P1000 now. You won't notice a difference on your phone or a tablet, but it's possible that you could notice the lower resolution on a big screen TV.

The references to focal lengths in the video below are the 35mm equivalents.

So sit back, relax, grab a bowl of popcorn and enjoy 7 blissful minutes of pure, uninterrupted super zooming! And after watching the video, you can place the bowl of popcorn a mile away and zoom in on it with your super zoom camera to see how close of a view you can get! Actually, I might try that!
